Abstract

Food security refers to the accessibility of food to the entire population, and is included in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Educational institutions can contribute significantly to the construction of knowledge on this subject, through different activities. The objective of this work was to evaluate how food security is addressed in extension projects developed at the Instituto Federal Farroupilha (IFFar). For the research, a search was carried out in the institutional system, using as indicators: the type of action (project); thematic area (Social – food and nutritional security) and year (2020, 2021 and 2022). A greater indication of the SDGs was observed in the 2022 projects, with SDG 2 (zero hunger and sustainable agriculture) being the most mentioned. In this sense, it is clear that extension actions, through educational institutions, can promote food security, reinforcing the importance of intersectorality in the search for more appropriate public policies.
