Record

The Journal Portal of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Farroupilha (https://periodicos.iffarroupilha.edu.br) was officially created in 2014, as an initiative of the Dean of Research, Graduate Studies and Innovation. Its mission is the development, democratization of access to scientific research and qualification of journals edited by IFFar, in line with the principles of Open Access.

In 2016, the first publication of the Revista de Ciência e Inovação (RCI) was released. Later that year, after the second edition, the magazine reached its first Qualis Capes B5 evaluation, an event of great relevance, given its short existence.

In 2017, the membership of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC) contributed to improving the dissemination and quality of publications and allowed the adoption of the Digital Object Identifier (DOI), facilitating the identification of published articles and enhancing their circulation. During this period, RCI began to integrate important indexers, portals and disseminators, such as Google Scholar, Summaries, Livre (portal for open access journals on the Internet), Capes Journals and Diadorim (Directory of Editorial Policies of Brazilian Scientific Journals).

In 2019, with the expansion of the team (librarian), we updated Open Journal Systems, migrating to a new updated version (OJS version 3.1.2.4).

At the end of 2020, the need to advance in publicating scientific articles in English and Spanish, in addition to Portuguese, became evident in order to expand the thematic areas and, finally, to adopt the modality of continuous publication.

In Capes' last evaluation, in 2022, RCI won the Qualis B2 classification, a result of the commitment and seriousness of its entire team.
